WHAT IS THE PROJECT MANAGEMENT FOR RESEARCHERS WORKSHOP?

  • Have you heard about project management but not really sure what it is?
  • Are you involved in project planning and management and want to learn how to do it better or more efficiently?
  • Want some ideas to consider how you can better deliver to realise your research project goals?

Come to our one day Project Management for Researchers Workshop!

Project management is becoming increasingly popular across all industries as organisations and individuals see the benefit of applying it to their projects. Project management can mean different things to different people, so come and learn what project management is all about. Do you want to learn about project management and how it can benefit you?

If you are delivering research evidence as a product, service or industry improvement initiative, then project management will help you deliver what you are doing and understand the terminology that industries are using in their planning. Whether you are an individual researcher or work as part of a larger research group or centre project management helps you to realise your project goals. Take the mayhem out of what you are doing by using project management to help you be clear on what you need to do to deliver on time and on budget. Manage like a boss.

In this workshop you will learn:

  • What project management is
  • How project management can benefit you
  • How to be clear on what it is you need to do
  • Gantt charts to keep you on track
  • A simple technique to budget costs
  • Understand what can go wrong and how you can avoid failure with risk management
  • Understand who your stakeholders are, and their information needs. Learn how to deliver the right information to them at the right time, so they support you in delivering your project.

You won’t be sitting through a boring seminar. There will be group exercises to keep the workshop engaging and fun. You will walk away with a better understanding of project management and some great techniques you can implement straight away.
